Terms of Use

Last updated: July 2026. These are the terms on which we provide WebDeck. By downloading, installing or using it, you agree to them.

The short version. WebDeck is provided free and "as is". It's a powerful tool that configures servers — you're responsible for the server you run it on, the data on it, and the people you host. Keep backups. We're not liable if something goes wrong.

1. Who we are

WebDeck is provided by VM6 Networks Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16553775). "We", "us" and "our" mean VM6 Networks Ltd. "You" means the person or organisation using WebDeck.

2. Licence to use WebDeck

Subject to these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use WebDeck on servers you control.

  • WebDeck is free for VM6 Networks clients, licensed automatically by server IP address
  • Other users may run a free trial, or use a licence key we issue
  • The software remains our property. This licence does not transfer ownership of anything

You may not: resell, sublicense or redistribute WebDeck itself; remove or circumvent its licensing; reverse-engineer it except to the extent that law permits; or use it to build a competing product.

3. Your responsibilities

WebDeck installs and configures server software. You remain responsible for your server and everything on it. In particular, you are responsible for:

  • The server itself — its security, its updates, its availability
  • Backups. WebDeck provides backup tools; using them, testing them and keeping copies off the server is your responsibility
  • Your data and your customers' data — including your obligations as a data controller under UK GDPR
  • Legal compliance — what you host, who you host it for, and the laws that apply to you
  • Access credentials — keeping passwords, keys and API keys secure
  • Testing before production. Try WebDeck on a non-critical server first. This is sensible with any new software; it is not optional advice
Install WebDeck on a fresh server. It configures web, mail, DNS and database services and expects to own that stack. Installing it on a server already running things may break them. We are not responsible for the consequences of installing it onto a server that is not clean.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use WebDeck to host, distribute or facilitate:

  • Anything unlawful under the laws of England and Wales, or of any jurisdiction where your servers or users are located
  • Malware, phishing, or content designed to harm systems or deceive people
  • Spam or bulk unsolicited email
  • Content that infringes anyone else's intellectual property
  • Child sexual abuse material, or content inciting violence or hatred

We may terminate your licence immediately if you breach this clause.

5. No warranty

WebDeck is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. In particular, we do not warrant that:

  • WebDeck will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free
  • It will meet your requirements, or be fit for any particular purpose
  • Any defects will be corrected
  • It will be compatible with your particular server, distribution or configuration

Any implied warranties or conditions — including as to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and non-infringement — are excluded to the fullest extent the law allows.

6. Limitation of liability

This clause is important. Please read it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither VM6 Networks Ltd, nor its directors, officers, employees, contractors or agents shall be liable to you or to any third party for:

  • Loss of data, however caused
  • Loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings
  • Business interruption or loss of use
  • Any indirect, special, incidental, consequential or punitive loss or damage
  • Any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, WebDeck
  • Any loss arising from third-party software that WebDeck installs or configures (including but not limited to Apache, nginx, OpenLiteSpeed, PHP, MariaDB, Postfix, Dovecot, PowerDNS, and any application installed through the app installer)
  • Any loss arising from your customers' or end users' use of servers you operate

This applies whether the claim arises in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such loss.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with WebDeck shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us for WebDeck licences in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

WebDeck is free software that automates server administration. Automation is powerful and, when something goes wrong, powerful in the other direction too. Keep tested, off-server backups. Test changes on a non-production server. These are not formalities — they are how you protect yourself.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VM6 Networks Ltd, its directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents from and against any claims, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with:

  • Your use of WebDeck
  • Your breach of these terms
  • Content or services you host, or that your customers host
  • Your breach of any law, or of any third party's rights

8. Third-party software

WebDeck installs, configures and manages third-party software, and can install third-party applications through its app installer. That software is provided by its own authors under its own licences. We do not own it, do not warrant it, and are not responsible for it. Your use of it is subject to the terms of its own licence.

9. Support

We provide support on a best-efforts basis. Free use of WebDeck does not entitle you to any guaranteed level of support, response time or uptime. We will help where we reasonably can, because we'd rather WebDeck worked than not.

10. Changes to WebDeck and to these terms

We may change, update or discontinue WebDeck or any of its features at any time. We may also update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your licence if you breach these terms. You may stop using WebDeck at any time. On termination, your right to use WebDeck ends — but your websites, data and the underlying server software are unaffected and remain yours.

12. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings in any jurisdiction where you are located or hold assets.

13. General

  • Severability: if any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues in force
  • No waiver: if we don't enforce a right, that doesn't waive it
  • Entire agreement: these terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us regarding WebDeck
  • Third-party rights: no one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms
